A series of books on letters, printing, and typography published by Robundo (朗文堂) in book form. Beyond the nature of an informational journal, these books possess the academic quality of a typical master's or doctoral dissertation. As a researcher, I've always felt that it's a joy to be able to easily purchase such a scholarly book, with a narrow readership, in a typical downtown bookstore. The owner, now in his seventies, has an incredible love for letters, making any concerns about who would buy such highly specialized material seem unfounded. I remember how I was reprimanded and trembled when I showed him my master's thesis for his opinion.
"Vignette" encompasses the history of writing across the East and the West, the evolution of its usage, the concept of fonts, Eastern and Western printing techniques, type sizes and structures, and much more... It's a series that encompasses bibliography, writing, and the media it covers. I'd like to introduce it as a diary for those who love letters and type.
