NIPPON (No. 18, Joseon Edition)

"NIPPON". This magazine also has a strong sense of propaganda. Perhaps for this reason, it was published in English, German, French, and Spanish, with no Japanese content included. What's surprising is the exceptional quality of the work, which is hard to believe considering it was published in 1939. From the cover design to the multilingual typesetting, photography, and infographics used on nearly every page... everything is superior to most contemporary magazines. Even the exceptional quality, incomparable to the general commercial magazines published at the time, reveals its distinctiveness as a public relations publication. Regardless of its purpose, the sheer level of design, printing, and papermaking expertise it possessed at the time is truly enviable.

The word “Nippon” in the title means “Japan” in Japanese. This is the issue published as the Joseon edition.
