History of Ming font, Ming type

These are two books with the same keywords, but the content they cover is completely different.

Ming font has two distinct histories. One is a woodblock typeface developed by Chinese woodcut artists, while the other is a movable typeface developed by Europeans for their expansion into the East. The former has a strong Eastern style, and its form and production have been studied primarily by bibliographers. The latter has a strong Western style, and its form and production process have been investigated by typographers. The former is a "character style," while the latter is a "font." The former is a source of pride for China, and the latter for Japan.

Of the two volumes in the photo, the left side primarily covers the former Ming font, while the right side primarily covers the latter. [History of Ming Font], which focuses on a single style before the modern era, and [Ming Type], which focuses on the post-modern era, reveal the boundaries of East Asian writing media.
