『World Character Challenge (圖典)』

This book is an encyclopedia of writing that introduces all the writing systems that have existed since mankind began using writing.

From the Sumerian script, which first appeared in human history despite not being connected to later generations, to the Egyptian script, which became the basis for European and West Asian scripts, and the oracle bone script, which gave birth to East Asian scripts... It's like a genealogy that allows you to see at a glance the ancient scripts that formed the framework of human culture, and the scripts of each region that branched out from them. Furthermore, it objectively covers all scripts, including Hangul, created by specific individuals, and fictional scripts created by imagination. In particular, it goes beyond the diversity of the scripts and clearly organizes their usage methods and principles, making it easy to understand how scripts from the same writing system are applied to other languages.

Personally, this is a book that I looked at so intently that the cover was worn out.

This book is a large-format book, so it's quite bulky and a bit pricey. A smaller version was recently released as a general-purpose edition.
